Loading a simple mixture of proteins
This app uses two panels on the screen. The control panel on the left allows you to make selections whose outcomes are shown in the results panel on the right. You can hide the control panel by tapping or swiping left in the results panel. To make the control panel visible again, use the button at the top of the screen or swipe right in the results panel. Make the control panel visible before you start these exercises.
Start by tapping Choose a mixture.
You need to start off with a very simple mixture that we can experiment
with. The list of available mixtures that you get may not look exactly like this, but somewhere
in the list there should be Easy3 Mixture. Select
it.
As its name suggests, this mixture contains three proteins. The simulation will ask which of the three you want to purify. Slide the control to select protein 2 and then tap the Done button.
The simulation will give protein 2 an enzymic activity and tell you about its stability. For the time being, you can ignore it and just tap the Purify button.
You will then see the Progress report. As the purification scheme proceeds, your progress is recorded here. At this point, you are ready to do some experiments with the protein mixture.
